1830’s to 1860’s Fashions by Artists Marks, Claude Smith and Hopf

Artwork by three artists set during 1830’s-1860’s. The first one by Alice Marks is Mary Emelyne. She has several hats and bonnets, a cape, silk party dress and riding habit. It was done about 1983.
The second one is Alice Bellin Flagg by Claude Smith. She lived on a plantation near Murrell’s Inlet, SC.  The ghost story is that she was engaged to a man beneath her status, sent away to school, became ill and died of a broken heart (and fever).  According to legend, she can be seen now and then searching for her engagement ring. This is Number 48 of 75 and signed by the now deceased artist Claude Smith who earned his Masters Degree in Fine Arts from East Tennessee State University. He taught art in the Greenville, SC, school district for many years. This was a souvenir for the 2001 Southeastern Paper Doll Collectors Party.
The third one is by artist Jeanne Hopf, about 1989. It is three b/w fashions during the Civil War Years.
